update: Nov 25,2009

The commercial industry of Ichikawa City is thriving along the vicinities of major train stations such as, JR Line's Ichikawa Station and Motoyawata Station, and Tozai Line's Gyotoku Station and Myoden Station. In recent years, at the outskirts of the city, former sites of industrial factories have been transformed into large-scale shopping malls.
The Commerce Promotion Section extends support to small shops or storeowners associations which aim to contribute to commercial business activities close to the community, by providing parking spaces along the shopping arcade, installing street lights, and organizing events to help invigorate the commercial industry.
