update: Nov 25,2009
The house and garden called Seikaen was donated to the city by Ms. Hana Ishii on October 7, 1992. The Ishii family lived here during the mid Edo Period called, Kyoho Era (1716-1736). In the modern period, this was converted into stationery and book shop named, Seikado, and was later donated as a contribution to the development of Nakayama district. In 2001, it was designated as a cultural heritage institution which was opened to the public with the name, Seikaen. The garden offers a relaxing place for strolling, watching flowers and trees, and adoring the old traditional roof structures.
