print
update: Nov 25,2009
The tea ceremony or SADO is the ritual act of preparing and serving a bowl of powdered green tea to observing guests. It is also called, CHANO-YU which literally means, "Tea hot-water". It is not merely about serving and drinking of teas but also an expression of appreciation for life's meaning, ways of thinking, the value of tea ingredients and art objects inside the CHASHITSU (Japanese style room used for tea ceremony), and other aspects, that has made it an art in itself. Proper attire for tea ceremony is Kimono or subdued formal wear.
