Names of Japanese begin with the Family name, and then followed by the First name, just like in China and Korea. Most Japanese family names are made up of two Kanji characters, with meanings usually relating to nature or some geographical features. In the past, most first names are composed of 2 characters only. Nowadays, many people have first names made up of one or three characters.
