Osu Park for Recreation and Disaster Relief

Osu Park was built for the recreational and exchange activities of the citizens and is well-equipped as a disaster relief center. In normal circumstances, the park provides space for recreation. However, when disaster strikes, the park coordinates with the nearby emergency hospital and the Edogawa river port, and functions as a temporary refuge shelter and a strategic point for relief and conveyance.
It is equipped with an earthquake-proof water storage tank located underground that can supply drinking water for every 10,000 evacuees for three days. The park's sitting benches can be transformed into cooking ovens while the pergolas or garden arches can be used to install or fasten tents where people can take refuge.
Normally, the park is a multi-purpose field for conducting baseball and other youth activities, but when crisis strikes it can also function as a heliport.
Also, inside the vast park、there are other facilities that include medical and dental emergency clinics and volunteer centers for welfare service center for the elderly and handicapped, the family support center, and others.
