The new coronavirus vaccination

New Information

In addition to the current mass vaccination sites, the city will administer vaccinations at three new mass vaccination sites from Saturday, October 9 at the Public Health Center, from Saturday, October 16 at the main office of the JA Ichikawa, and from Saturday, October 16 at Hiroo Disaster Prevention Park. Moderna vaccines will be used at the Public Health Center.

The city will take priority appointments from students who will take entrance exams from 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 25. For more details, please see Priority vaccinations for students who will take entrance exams

The city has set up priority appointments at two mass vaccination sites for expecting mothers and their cohabiting family members. For more details, please see Vaccination for expecting mothers.

Appointments for new coronavirus vaccination

Vaccinations are by appointment only. Appointments are now open for all persons aged 12 or over.For people aged 11 who will turn 12 on and after October 1, 2021 (those born on and after October 1, 2009), the city will send vaccination vouchers in the month previous to your birthday month.

Appointments at mass vaccination sites are divided into the 1st vaccinations and 2nd vaccinations (excluding the Ichikawa Grand Hotel that are not open on a regular basis).※ The appointments at the Ichikawa Grand Hotel are not divided into the 1st and 2nd vaccinations.

Mass vaccinations are not available at Ichikawa City Hall, Building 1 on November 7, at Shiohama Civic Gymnasium on November 29, at the Ichikawa Grand Hotel between October 5 and October 15, and between October 23 and October 30.

Moderna will be administered at the Public Health Center.

Your second dose needs to be the same manufacturer as your first shot.

(1)【Preparation for the appointment】Prepare the vaccination voucher

The city has sent eligible residents an envelope containing the vaccination voucher. To make a vaccination appointment, the "voucher number" written on your voucher is needed in addition to your name and date of birth (in the western calendar).

 (Note 1)The vaccination voucher is printed on a sticker. Please do not remove it or cut it off, and keep it intact until you get to the vaccination venue.

(Note 2)If you have an underlying medical condition, please be sure to consult with your family doctor whether or not you can be vaccinated. It is also advisable that your family doctor administer the vaccination, if you have a family doctor.


(2) AppointmentsMake an appointment by phone or online

Once the appointment start date for your age group begins, please make an appointment with your vaccination voucher handy. The earliest day you can choose is the next day if booking before noon, or the day after next if booking after noon. You can make an appointment by phone or online.
After the first appointment, you can proceed to make an appointment for the second dose by phone or online.
If you receive the first dose at a medical institution, it is possible to choose a mass vaccination site for the second dose.

*As a standard practice, the second dose should be administered 3 weeks after the first dose, but it is not necessary to receive the first dose again even after 3 weeks passes; the WHO, the U.S., and some EU countries recommend that the second dose be given no later than 6 weeks after the first dose.

Signing up for the waiting list


(1) Outline
A waiting list will automatically open when appointments for one week are fully booked (all medical institutions are fully booked).The waiting list will be divided into east, west, south and north areas by address. Please refer to the following table for the classification of each address.

(2) How to use the service
1. Apply for the waiting list through the call center or booking system.
2. When a cancellation is made for an appointment at same the medical institution where you are on the waiting list, the call center will call you at the phone number you provided when you applied.
3. If the vaccination site and time suit you, your appointment will be booked.

(3) Cautions
-Waiting lists need to be booked before 12:00 noon the day before you hope to receive a vaccination.
-The call center will call you in the order in which you apply. Please note, in case you didn’t answer the phone, the next person in line may get an appointment first.
-While you are on the waiting list, you cannot book a regular appointment. If you wish to book a regular appointment, please cancel the waiting list from the call center or the booking system.
-If a dose doesn’t become available for you by the day you requested on the waiting list, the call center will process your cancellation. Please be aware that an email will be sent to your registered email address at that time.

Parking space is avilable at each vaccination site (except for the Ichikawa Grand Hotel and the Public Health Center. Parking space at Hiroo Disaster Prevention Park is not free of charge), but due to the limited space, please use the public transportation or the free bus shuttle services as much as possible. There is no space for bicycle parking at the Ichikawa Grand Hotel, either.

The Public Health Center (保健センター) is diffrerent from the Ichikawa Public Health and Welfare Center (市川保健所:市川保健福祉センター). Please make sure of the correct address.

The Ichikawa Grand Hotel has no parking space for cars and bicycles.

C. Free shuttle bus

Free shuttle bus service is available at two of the mass vaccination sites: the Kohnodai Civic Gymnasium and the Shiohama Civic Gymnasium.

【On the day of vaccination】 Precautions before receiving the vaccine

Please print a preliminary examination form in the language you speak from the link below, and fill out the sheet and bring it with you to the vaccination venue on the day of your appointment. The preliminary examination form is necessary for the first and second vaccination respectively. On the day of vaccination, be sure to take your body temperature, and if you have an obvious fever (37.5 degree or higher), please refrain from vaccination and contact the call center.

People aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day of vaccination.

In case of unavoidable cancellation

In case of cancelling your appointment by the day before your reserved date, please complete the procedure on the web, or contact the Ichikawa city new coronavirus call center. In case of cancelling your appointment on the reserved date, please contact the medical institution directly.

【After vaccination】Points to note after receiving the vaccine

  1. Confirm if your physical condition is normal
    Please wait at the vaccination venue for about 15 minutes, or about 30 minutes if you have had severe allergic symptoms in the past.
  2. Protect the injection site
    Bathing is acceptable, but do not rub the injection site
  3. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive alcohol consumption.

When you return home

Please keep your vaccination certificate in a safe place. A sticker will be placed on the Certificate of Vaccination for those who have been vaccinated. This will serve as proof of vaccination.

Priority vaccinations for students who will take entrance exams

The city will take priority appointments from students who will take entrance exams.

I. Outline
Booking will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 25. 
Eligibility   Students who are registered residents of Ichikawa, and will take entrance exams
・Grade 6 students (Those who will turn 12 years of age by the vaccination date).
・3rd year junior high school students (Those who were born between April 2, 2006 and April 1, 2007)
・3rd year students in high school (Those who were born on or before April 1, 2004)

II.Things to bring on the day of vaccination

  2. ID, such as the national health insurance card
  3. Preliminary examination sheet: Please fill it out at home. Those aged 12 to 15 need their parent/guardian’s signature.
  4. Grade 6 students and 3rd year students in junior high school need to bring their maternity passbook.

III.Note
・This priority appointment is for eligible students only.
・Staff will confirm your eligibility by asking your age and other details at the vaccination center. Vaccinations may not be administered in case you are not eligible.
・As vaccines are limited, appointments may close early.
・Grade 6 students and 3rd year students in junior high school need to be accompanied by their parent/guardian. In order to avoid crowds, an accompanying person should be one person in principle.
In case the parent/guardian is unable to accompany for special reasons, a relative or a suitable person who is well-aware of the child’s health on a daily basis may be entrusted to accompany the child.

For expecting mothers
Expecting mothers (particularly those in late/post term) are said to be seriously impacted by the new coronavirus.

If you wish to get vaccinated, please consult with your obstetrician first and be advised whether you should be vaccinated.

Not all vaccination venues can accommodate expecting mothers. Each medical institution listed on the web booking system indicates whether they can vaccinate expecting mothers. Please make sure of the indication when booking.

For those who will book appointments via Call Center, we will confirm whether your desirable medical institution can administer vaccinations for you before accepting your appointments.

Please be aware of a scam regarding the new coronavirus

There have been suspicious phone calls from people claiming to be the prefectural or city government personnel, demanding money or personal information, saying that you will receive a priority vaccination if you send 100,000 yen to them. The new coronavirus vaccination offered by the city is free of charge. Please be careful not to be deceived by suspicious calls.
