1. 1 Mayor TANAKA Koh has been sworn in

On March 27, TANAKA Koh won the Ichikawa mayoral election for the first time. The number of eligible voters on March 27 was 400,508, and 155,197 votes were cast, accounting for a 38.57 percent turn-out rate (previously 33.97 percent)

Through the Ichikawa mayoral election held on March 27, I have been entrusted by the residents of Ichikawa to assume the heavy responsibility of city administration. In order to respond to the trust and expectations from everyone, I will put my utmost effort into developing the city administration and improving the lives of Ichikawa residents.

2. Please continue to take precautionary measures against COVID-19

The number of daily new cases of COVID-19 has bottomed out in Ichikawa City since the quasi state of emergency was lifted. Meanwhile, a new variant has been confirmed in Japan, and there are concerns that the medical system may be strained as a result of resurging new cases. We ask all residents of Ichikawa City to continue taking precautionary measures against COVID-19, and to consider getting vaccinated as an effective way to prevent infection.

Vaccination vouchers will be sent out soon

The first and second vaccination vouchers are scheduled to be sent out on Monday, May 23 for those who will turn 5 years old in June 2022. Likewise, the vouchers will be sent out to other eligible residents at the end of the month previous to their 5th birthday.

Fourth vaccination is under consideration

Ichikawa City is currently preparing for a vaccination system based on the national government’s policy. The details will be announced on the Ichikawa City official website when the information becomes available.

3. Consultations concerning Ukrainian evacuees

In cooperation with the national government and Chiba Prefectural government, the Foreign Residents’ Assistance Desk is taking comprehensive consultation requests to offer support for Ukrainian evacuees who have fled their home country due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In addition to Russian interpreter services via videophone as well as Ukrainian and Russian automated audio translating devices, volunteer Ukrainian interpreters will be available upon advance appointment. 4. Are you covered by bicycle insurance?

Due to the amendment of the “Ordinance on promotion of safe and proper use of bicycles in Chiba Prefecture,” insurance will be mandated to all cyclists starting from July 1, 2022 and onwards for covering public liability caused while cycling.
In order to protect yourself as well as others, please make sure to join a bicycle insurance (bicycle liability insurance, etc.).
