1. COVID-19 vaccine updates

The city will begin administering a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible residents soon. Please see the Ichikawa City official website for the latest information.

Eligibility

1.　Persons aged 60 or over
2.　Persons aged 18 to 60 who meet one of the following conditions:
（1） Persons with underlying medical conditions and who are currently hospitalized or visit hospitals on a regular basis.
（2） Persons whose BMI is 30 or over
（3） Persons whose doctors see them to be at high risk of contracting COVID-19
※ Whether vaccination is possible will be determined by a doctor on the day of vaccination.

Sending out vaccination vouchers

Vaccination vouchers were sent out on Monday, May 23 for persons aged 18 and over who received their third dose of vaccines by February, 2022. Vaccination vouchers will also be sent out to other residents incrementally. Please note, vaccination vouchers will be sent out to ineligible residents as well. The city will consider expanding the eligibility in the future based on the national government’ policy. Please do not discard your vaccination voucher.

From June 2022 and onwards. Free of charge.

2.Applications will be accepted for municipal housing

The city will soon start accepting applications for advance registration from those who wish to move into municipal housing. （Please use the postal service when submitting your application forms as much as possible in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.）

Application period

From Wednesday, June 1 to Wednesday, June 15 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

・Space adjacent to Volunteer NPO Plaza at the Gyotoku branch office

Application forms/guide

Application forms are distributed at the application counters written above, and are downloadable during the application period. If you wish to obtain an application form by post, please send an envelope to the Division of Municipal Housing by Thursday, June 9 （postal code 272-8501, no address required）, with your information （your address, name, furinaga and telephone number） written on a sheet of paper, and a 210-yen postal stamp. Please write down “application guide wanted” on the envelope.

How to apply

Please send or bring your application form and required documents to the Division of Municipal Housing during the application period. Postmarks also must be stamped within the application period.

3.Workout events in June

The first time in 3 years! “Shimosa-Edogawa two-day march” walking event will be held

The “Shimosa-Edogawa two-day march” event was cancelled over the past two years due to COVID-19. However, the event will be held one day only this year. As a precautionary measure, the routes will be limited to certain areas. This event will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be physically active while visiting scenic locations and historically important sites on foot. This time, participation is free of charge for Ichikawa residents as well as persons working or studying in the city. Please see the brochure available at public facilities for more information.

The city will offer casual, light sports lessons. All are welcome.

Available sports

Indoor: mini volleyball, boccia, physical exercise for parents and children, yoga and flying discs
Outdoor: futsal, track and field （100m sprints and others）

4.Japanese language training for business

The Japan International Cooperation Center （JICE） offers Japanese language courses for business free of charge.
Due to COVID-19, the course information is subject to change. Also, in case of too many applications, application may close early.

Eligibility

Foreign nationals who have the following visa status:

• Spouse or child of Japanese nationals
• Permanent resident
• Spouse of permanent resident
• Long-term resident

How to apply

Please apply at your nearest Hello Work. Upon application, you need to submit one sheet of your photograph （3cm x 4cm）, and show your Resident card or passport.

5.Free legal consultation services for foreign residents

In order to support legal solutions for issues that foreign nationals may be faced with in their daily lives, the Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center offers free consultation services for foreign residents every month in cooperation with the Chiba Bar Association and the Chiba Administrative Scrivener Association.
