1. Inviting applications for the Ichikawa Resident New Year Marathon

Start the new year off right by running through the city. For more information, please see the Ichikawa City official website or refer to the event brochure. Event brochures are available at the Division of Sports Promotion and City PR paper racks （except for JR/Tokyo Metro stations）, as well as at civic gymnasiums and community centers in the city.

【Date and time】
January 1, 2026（public holiday） from 9 a.m. to 12 noon（Registration begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 8:40 a.m.）. Rain or shine.

【Venues】
Sports Center and its vicinity.

【Eligibility】
Persons living, working or studying in Ichikawa City who are Grade 4 students or older.
（Non-Ichikawa residents who are members of the Ichikawa Sports Association, “Ichikawa Arukokai,” or graduates of schools in Ichikawa are also eligible.）

【Fees】
Junior high school students and participants in the walking category: 1,000 yen
High school students and over, as well as participants in the family category: 2,000 yen
Handling charges apply.
Payment methods include credit cards, Pay-easy, and convenience stores. （Those who sign up by phone can only pay at convenience stores.）

Applications are open for the running seminar prior to the Ichikawa Resident New Year Marathon.

People who signed up for the New Year Marathon, up to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

500 yen （Participants in the Family category: 500yen for a parent and a child. Please pay the fee on the day of the seminar. Cash only.）

2. Events scheduled for November 3

Ichikawa Residents’ Festival

The event will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.

Osu Bosai （Disaster Prevention）Park

【Shuttle bus】
Free shuttle bus services will be available on the day of the event, leaving from the Ogashiwa branch office, City Hall Building 1, Road Station Ichikawa and the Gyotoku branch office. There will also be shuttle bus services between the Ogashiwa and Gyotoku areas and Osu Disaster Prevention Park.

Southern Italy Caserta Fair

There will be sales of Italian specialties including Mozzarella cheese which is originally from Caserta, and wine, and special menus.

3. Influenza vaccine fees for children is subsidized

The city will provide subsidies for the cost of influenza vaccines for children. Vaccinations must be administered in medical facilities in Japan.

【Eligible period】
Vaccinations received between Monday, September 1, 2025 and Saturday, January 31, 2026 are eligible.

【Subsidy】
Hypodermic injection: 1,500 yen per injection, up to two injections.
Nasal spray: 3,000 yen per dose.

【Registration】
Complete the registration form from Saturday, November 1, 2025 to Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Subsidies will be paid to your bank account after 2 to 3 months after registration.

【Eligibility】
Registered Ichikawa residents aged 6 months to Grade 6 students as of the vaccination date.

4. Partial subsidies for elementary school entrance fees

【Time to provide subsidies】
Subsidies will be provided in late February, 2026.

【Amount of subsidies】

【Eligibility】
Guardians of children scheduled to enroll in a public elementary school in April 2026. Applicants must meet both of the following requirements:
（1）Registered resident in Ichikawa City.
（2）Persons who are not receiving public assistance, but are experiencing financial difficulties equivalent to those receiving public assistance.

Please fill out this registration form or bring the completed application form and necessary documents to the Division of Compulsory Education by Friday, December 26. Application forms will be distributed at medical check-ups held before elementary school enrollment.

5. Fiscal 2025 Basic Japanese lessons for those who came to Japan as accompanying family members （Free of charge）

The Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center will conduct basic Japanese lessons for foreign nationals living in Chiba Prefecture. All lessons will be given virtually via Zoom.
