1. Winter family events at Youth Nature House

Winter events are scheduled at the Youth Nature House, which is located in the nature-rich area of Omachi.This issue will introduce you to two of these family events. Please join us and experience the warmth of the winter events!

Winter stargazing event for parents and kids

【Dates and times】
（1）January 12, 2026（public holiday）from 3:30 p.m.（registration starts at 3 p.m.）to 6:30 p.m.
（2）Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 4 p.m.（registration starts at 3:30 p.m.）to 7 p.m.

【Eligibility and quota】
Elementary or junior high school students living in the city and their parents, up to ten families are accepted in the order of application for each date.

【Programs】
Outdoor cooking: Participants will cook Tonjiru, pork soup before stargazing.
Stargazing: Participants will enjoy stargazing using telescopes and binoculars on the rooftop of the Youth Nature House, accompanied by an instructor’s explanations. In case of inclement weather, stargazing will be replaced with star viewing at the planetarium and an instructor’s lecture.

【Fees】
About 350 yen per person for cooking　ingredients.

Call the Youth Nature House with the name and telephone number of the applicant and the number of participants between the following dates（except for closed days.）
Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and Tuesday, January 6, 2026 for Date（1）.
Wednesday, January 14 and Friday, February 6, 2026 for Date（2）.
Applicants can apply for one of the dates only.

2. Garbage must be processed properly

Burning garbage in the open air is prohibited

According to the “Waste Disposal and Public Cleaning Law,” open burning of waste is prohibited.
Anyone who violates this law may be imprisoned for up to five years, or fined up to 10 million yen（or fined up to 300 million yen in the case of a company）, or both.

The city has received the following complaints from residents:

• Windows must be kept closed because of smoke and odor.
• Laundry hung outside will be exposed to smoke and ashes.
• Smoke stings the eyes and throat.
• There is a risk of spreading fires.

3. Guo Muruo Memorial Hall New Year Japanese music concert

Winners of the New Artists Competition hosted by the Ichikawa Cultural Promotion Foundation, Suzumi Sakurai（Koto）and Eizan Yoshikoshi（Shakuhachi）will　perform next month.
