1.  Summer outing spots in Ichikawa

City residents’ swimming pools

There are five types of pools: an infants’ pool, a kids’ pool with a slide, a lazy river pool, a 50-meter pool and a 25-meter pool. Air inflators for floats are also available. As the cafeteria is not open this year, please use vending machines, etc. Admissions are limited to 800 visitors a day. Visitors are required to make a reservation in advance. Reservations are accepted online and by telephone. (Up to 5 persons per reservation.)

Zoological and Botanical Gardens

Located in the northern part of Ichikawa City, the Zoological and Botanical Gardens are full of attractions. You will meet a wide range of wildlife from Sumatran orangutans to red pandas, from meerkats to alpacas in the zoo area. In the botanical garden, tropical plants, such as coffee and cacao, and succulent plants are cultivated. A nature observation garden and a rose garden are also popular among visitors as a relaxing location.

Ichikawa residents’ campground

It’s located in a quiet neighborhood in Kashiwai-machi in the northern part of the city. In a thick, wooded area, 3.3 hectares in size, there is a management building, a cooking site and a tent ground. Temporary restrooms are also equipped. Both day visits and overnight stays are free of charge. Visitors can enjoy insect catching in summer and autumn foliage in the fall.

I-Nest / Midori no Kuni (green country)

I-Nest is a glass-walled facility for birding, with a casual café open for all. There is also an exhibition space and a multipurpose space where visitors can feel the connection between people and nature in the Gyotoku area. At a distance of just a 5-minute walk from I-Nest, within the Gyotoku Bird Sanctuary, which is only open on certain days, a 600-meter walking path named Midori no Kuni welcomes visitors to this natural setting, full of black pines and other greenery.

2. National pension contributions and national health insurance taxes

Applying for exemption of national pension contributions

For those who are unable to pay pension contributions due to financial difficulties, pension contribution can be exempted or deferred. For more details, please see the Japan Pension Service website. Applications for exemption/deferment for fiscal 2022 applying to the period between July 2022 and June 2023 are also accepted at Ichikawa City Hall. (Priority will be given to those with a reservation at City Hall, Building 1.)

Application for reduction or exemption of national health insurance tax in line with COVID-19 countermeasures

Applications for tax reduction/exemption for fiscal 2022 are accepted from those whose main earner either died or suffered serious illness, or whose main earner’s income from business, real estate, forestry or salary decreased by three tenth or more compared to the previous year (other conditions also apply). The application deadline is Friday, March 31, 2023. (Must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2023.)

3. Temporary special benefits are provided for households exempted from residential tax in fiscal 2022

Households exempted from residential tax (per capital basis) in fiscal 2022 have become eligible as recipients of temporary special benefits targeting households exempted from residential tax.
Those who have already received temporary special benefits targeting households exempted from residential tax in fiscal 2021, or households including someone who used to be the head of an eligible household for the benefit are not eligible this time. 4. Notice from the Division of National Health Insurance

National health insurance tax payment notification will be sent out on Monday, July 11

A head of household is responsible for the national health insurance tax payment. Even if he/she is not a member of the national health insurance system, the national health insurance tax is levied on him/her in case anyone in the household is a member of the national health insurance system.

Notice about the medical system for persons aged 75 or over

Notification determining the insurance contributions will be sent out on Thursday, July 14.
Because of a 20 percent medical expense imposition that will be introduced in October 2022, cards for insured persons will be sent to all eligible residents twice (July and September) in fiscal 2022 by registered mail.

5. The Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic)

The Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) is designed to measure the Japanese language proficiency level needed for foreign nationals who come to Japan for employment, and to judge whether they are able to carry on daily conversations to a certain extent and handle day-to-day necessities.
Result will be available shortly after the test. The result is also valid for applications of visa status “Specified Skilled Worker 1”
