These pieces of information are printed in the Ichikawa PR paper, in the March 7 issue.
1. The rules for garbage collection will change in April – Correct separation will protect the city and its sources
In order to improve the quality of plastic bottle recycling, the city will start collecting plastic bottles separately in April. The city will implement proactive initiatives to become an environmental advanced city.
Starting on Wednesday, April 1, plastic bottles will be collected separately.
【Collection days】
Plastic bottles will be collected on the same days as plastic waste.
Please refer to your waste collection calendar for more information.
【How to dispose of a plastic bottle】
（1）Remove the cap and label （both of which are plastic waste.）
（2）Rince the inside of the plastic bottle. （The bottle must be empty.）
（3）Crush the bottle lightly to reduce its volume.
（4）Discard the bottle in a netted bag at your local waste disposal point. （Make sure not to include other plastic items.）

【Caution】
Bottles with a “PET” symbol can be placed in a netted bag. （For example, these include plastic bottles used for soft drinks, seasonings, and alcohol beverages.） However, bottles containing heavy residues of oil, detergent, or dressing cannot be collected as plastic bottle waste, even if they have a PET symbol. Dispose of these as burnable waste.
Beware of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries
Broken, deformed or swollen mobile batteries pose a serious fire risk.
Mobile batteries and items containing lithium-ion batteries are convenient tools, but they can cause fires. Everyone needs to know how to dispose of them properly.
【Items using lithium-ion batteries】
Lithium-ion batteries are small, light and high capacity. They are used in various electronic devices such as smartphones, handheld fans, and wireless earphones.
【How fires start and how to prevent accidents】
Short-circuiting of the inner batteries of lithium-ion batteries due to physical shocks, heat and deterioration is the main cause of fires. In recent years, there have been many fires in waste processing facilities and waste collection vehicles. Proper disposal of batteries is important after taping the terminals（see below）.
【How to dispose of them】
（1） Remove residual energy from the battery and turn off the power.
（2） Cover the contact points with non-conductive tape.
（3） Put them in a transparent or translucent bag and dispose of them on small-sized chargeable battery collection days （the same day as unburnable waste collection）.

2. How to act in the event of a disaster: Ensure your own safety and take appropriate actions
When a large-scale disaster occurs, public transportation may stop operations, making it difficult to return home. If many people simultaneously begin walking home, major chaos can erupt on the streets. This could lead to being caught up in mass falls, sustaining injuries from fires or falling debris from buildings along the route, and may also hinder rescue and relief efforts.
First and foremost, ensure your own safety and take appropriate actions.

- Confirm the safety of your family using disaster emergency message services
- Stay in a safe place, such as your workplace or a place that attract customers.

3. Ichikawa Mama Riverbank Cherry Blossom Week is going to be held from March 20 to April 12
Lanterns will be set up along the cherry-tree-lined path by the Mama River （between Onigoe and Miyakubo）.
Food trucks will be there too.

Cherry Blossom Town Walk
Together with Ichikawa based volunteer guides, participants will walk along the Mama River to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
【Dates】
Thursday, March 26 and Thursday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on both dates.
Please meet us at the north exit of JR Motoyawata station.
【Quota】
Twenty people on both dates in the order of application.
Hiking from JR Motoyawata Station
JR-EAST is going to host a walking event.
Starting from JR Motoyawata station, participants will walk the 11-km course to JR Ichikawa station, passing cherry blossom viewing spots such as the Mama River and Satomi Park. いちかわしでは 4がつから ぺっとぼとる（ぷらすちっくで できた びん）の ぶんべつかいしゅう（ほかの ごみと わけて あつめること）を はじめます。みんなで かんきょうを まもる まちに なるために いちかわしは かんきょうに いいことを すすんで おこないます。
4がつ1にち（すいようび）から ぺっとぼとるが ぶんべつしゅうしゅうに かわります
【しゅうしゅうび（ごみを だすことが できる ひ）】
ぺっとぼとるの しゅうしゅうびは ぷらすちっくの ごみを だす ひと おなじです。
ごみを だす ひは こちらの ごみ しゅうしゅうび かれんだーを みてください。
【ぺっとぼとるの すてかた】
（1）ふたと らべるを はずす（ぷらすちっくの ごみとして だしてください）
（2）なかを みずで あらう（なかに のみものが はいっていると りさいくるが できません）
（3）かるく つぶす（おおきさを ちいさくする）
（4）ごみしゅうせきじょ（ごみを すてる ばしょ）に ある ねっとぶくろに いれる（ほかの ものは いれないでください）
ぶんべつしゅうしゅうや すてかたは こちらの ぺーじで みてください。
【ちゅうい】
ねっとぶくろに いれられるものは PETの まーくが ついている ぼとるです（たとえば のみものや ちょうみりょうや おさけが はいっている ぺっとぼとるです）。あぶらや せんざいが ついて きたないものは PETの まーくが ついていても もやすごみの ひに すててください。
りちうむいおんでんちから ひが でることが あります
かたちが かわっていたり ふくらんでいたりする もばいるばってりー（もちあるくことが できる じゅうでんき）は きをつけてください。
もばいるばってりーや りちうむいおんでんちが はいっている せいひん（こがたじゅうでんしき でんちるい）は べんりですが ひが でる じこを おこすことも あります。ただしい すてかたを まなびましょう。
【りちうむいおんでんちが つかわれているもの】
すまーとふぉんや はんでぃふぁん（ちいさい せんぷうき）や わいやれすいやほんなどの もちはこびやすい でんしききに つかわれています。
【ひが でる りゆうと じこが おきないようにする ほうほう】
りちうむいおんでんちの なかに ある でんちが ふるくなったり ねつを もったりすると たくさんの でんりゅうが ながれて ひが でることが あります。 ごみを もやす しせつや ごみを あつめる くるまの なかで りちうむいおんでんちから ひが でて じこが おきたことも あります。 でんちを すてるときは ただしく すてることが たいせつです。
【ただしい すてかた】
（1） のこっている でんちを なくして でんげんを きる
（2） きんぞくたんしぶ（じゅうでんする さしこみぐち）に てーぷを つける（でんきが とおらないように します）
（3） なかが みえる ふくろに いれて こがたじゅうでんしき でんちるいの ひ（もやさないごみと おなじひ）に すてる

2. さいがいが おきたときは おちついて こうどうしましょう
おおきな さいがいが おこると でんしゃや ばすが とまって いえへ かえることが むずかしくなる ばあいが あります。たくさんの ひとが おなじときに あるいて いえへ かえりはじめると どうろが こんらんします。まず じぶんが あんぜんな ばしょに いることを かくにんして おちついて こうどうしましょう。
【あんぜんが わかるまで うごかない】
- さいがいようでんごんさーびす（さいがいが おきたときに かぞくや ともだちに でんごんを のこすことが できる さーびす）を つかって かぞくの あんぜんを かくにんする
- しょくば（しごとを している ばしょ）や しゅうきゃくしせつ（たくさんの ひとを あつめることが できる しせつ）など あんぜんな ばしょから うごかない
【じゅんびできること】
- かぞくと あんぴかくにん（あんぜんかどうか かくにんすること）の ほうほうを きめたり しゅうごうばしょ（あう やくそくを している ばしょ）を きめる
- しょくばに いんりょうすい（のむことが できる みず）や びちくしょくりょう（さいがいが おきたばあい たべることが できるように よういしておく たべもの）を おいておく

ぼらんてぃあの がいど（むりょうで あんないを する ひと）と いっしょに ままがわの ちかくに あるさくらを みにいきます。
