1. The City sends ICHICO cards worth 4,500 yen to all Ichikawa residents as a countermeasure against price hikes

You will get extra points worth 1,000 yen! Let’s transfer the points from your card to apps!

The city will send ICHICO cards to all residents （valued at 4,500 yen per resident） via the head of each household by the end of May as a countermeasure against recent price hikes.
If you transfer the points from your ICHICO card to the ‘chiica’ app, you will also earn an extra 1,000 points. For more information on how to install apps or ICHICO, please see the Ichikawa City Official website.

Assistance on how to use ICHICO is provided from April to December

ICHICO Support Desks are available to provide help on how to install apps and how to use them. Please feel free to visit the desk.

Weekdays: Ichikawa City Hall Building 1, the Gyotoku Branch Office, the Ogashiwa Branch Office, and the City Administrative Service Center at Ichikawa Station.
Saturdays and Sundays:　The Ogashiwa Branch Office, the Konodai Sports Center, Shintoku Community Center, Minami Gyotoku Community Center, Minami Gyotoku Civic Center, and 11 locations in commercial buildings in the city.

2. Protect yourselves from measles

Many cases of measles have been reported nationwide. In order to prevent further spread of cases, practice countermeasures such as getting vaccinated.

【Symptoms】
Cold-like symptoms start appearing after ten days of infection such as fever, cough, and runny nose. After two to three days of up to 38-degree fever, a higher fever of 39 degrees or more will develop, plus rashes. Pneumonia and ear infection are complications of measles. Encephalitis can occur in one in one thousand patients during or after measles.

【How measles spreads】
Measles is an airborne disease and is highly contagious. People who are not immune to measles have a high chance of becoming infected if they are exposed to measles.

【How to prevent】
Vaccinations are effective. Please make sure that vaccinations are administered in a timely fashion in the following cases: routine vaccine eligible persons （one-year-olds, preschool children who have one year until entering elementary school）, health care workers, people engaged in education, and people who plan to visit overseas.

【Treatment after becoming infected】
Please call a medical organization and let them know that you may have become infected with measles, and follow their instructions. Please also avoid taking public transportation as much as possible when you visit a medical facility.

3. Fun events during the Golden Week

Kokubu River Carp Streamer Festival

With “revive the clear stream” as its slogan, the festival will feature more than five hundred carp streamers flying high in the sky in hopes of making children’s dreams come true.
A ceremony and other programs are scheduled for May 4 （public holiday）.

I-Nest to Green Country: Quiz and walk rally

Try to solve creature quizzes at five check points while walking on a trail. Participants can get prizes. For more information, please see the Ichikawa City official website.

Registration is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.

4. The 2026 Training Course for Promoting Stable Employment of Foreign Residents

The Japan International Cooperation Center （JICE） conducts a Japanese language course to promote stable employment.

【Class types】
In-person and virtual.
Please check this information＜外部リンク＞ to see in-person class venues. For virtual classes, applicants can apply from anywhere in Japan.

【Eligibility】

• Persons with a visa status that allows them to work in Japan （Please ask Hello Work if you have questions about visa status.）
• Japanese nationals with international backgrounds who need support on this program
• Persons who are seeking jobs in Japan
• Persons who want to improve their Japanese skills and work in Japan for a long period of time

【Hours of study】
100 hours per course. There are morning, afternoon and evening courses.

【Application】
Please apply at a Hello Work near you. Please bring your Residence Card or passport. A placement test will be conducted.

5. Big research on swallow habitat

Please report to Ichikawa City Hall if you see a swallow’s nest in the city.

ういるすが　からだの　なかに　はいると　ねつや　せきや　はなみずが　でます。ねつが　すうじつ　でてから　39どいじょうに　あがります。ほっしんも　でます。はいえんや　ちゅうじえんに　なる　ばあいも　あります。1,000にんに　ひとりは　のうえんに　なると　いわれています。

【はしかの　うつりかた】
はしかに　かかった　ひとの　せきや　くしゃみから　でた　ういるすが　くうきの　なかに　あると　かんたんに　ひとに　うつります。はしかに　かかったことが　ない　ひとの　からだに　ういるすが　はいると　はっしょうすること（びょうきになること）が　おおいです。

【はしかを　ふせぐ　ほうほう】】
よぼうせっしゅを　うけることで　はしかを　ふせぐことが　できます。
1さいの　こども、しょうがっこうに　はいるまで　1ねんかんの　こども、びょういんや　がっこうで　はたらいている　ひと、がいこくへ　いく　よていが　ある　ひとは　よぼうせっしゅをうけたことを　かくにんしてください。

【もうしこみが　できる　ひと】

• にほんで　しごとが　できる　ざいりゅうしかく（びざ）を　もっている　ひと（ざいりゅうしかくの　しつもんは　もうしこみを　するときに　はろーわーくに　きいてください。）
